The rapid expansion of technology is both thrilling and chilling, raising fresh worries regarding young individuals’ online security and privacy. The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) is a well-intentioned but dangerous bill. The bill’s stated goal is to protect the well-being of children and teenagers engaging with digital media. Instead, this bill seriously threatens our Constitutional and Human Rights, including freedom of expression, privacy, and access to information. The requirement for online platforms to censor content deemed “inappropriate” for minors will stifle the free exchange of ideas and information that is vital for our democracy.
Any legislation aimed at online safety must balance protecting us and preserving our cherished principles of free speech and open communication. Woodhull strongly opposes KOSA as it violates our Constitutional and fundamental Human Rights.
What can you do? Let your elected officials know that you stand with Woodhull in opposition to KOSA by writing to them.
