Meredith Gwynne Fair Worthen (she/hers) received her PhD in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Professor of Sociology and an affiliated faculty member of the Women’s and Gender Studies Department, the Center for Social Justice, and the Carceral Studies Consortium at the University of Oklahoma. She is interested in the sociological constructions of deviance and stigma, especially in the areas of sexualities, LGBTQ identities, and feminist/queer criminology. Her most recent book is Interrogating the Use of LGBTQ Slurs: Still Smearing the Queer? (Routledge 2024). She is also the founder of the LGBTQ Research & Engagement Collective at OU, co-founder of the American Society of Criminology Division on Queer Criminology, and director and founder of two non-profit organizations: The Welcoming Project and the #MeTooMeredith Coalition.
