The Censorship of Sexual Freedom – Library and Advocacy Funding Conference 2022
This panel originally aired as part of the 2022 Library and Advocacy Funding Conference. Sexual freedom is a fundamental human right. The first amendment protects free speech. Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right, enshrined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Those three statements are facts. And yet, in the United States, we are facing a wave of increased censorship from book bans, to shadowbanning on social media, from restrictions on our sexual expression online to what’s taught in schools. Woodhull President & CEO Ricci Levy hosts a conversation between award-winning librarian Martha Hickson and FIRE Legal Director Will Creeley.
